It seems as if one post featuring an "absurd item of the day" will not quite do it. Today on NPR there was a report that the Obama Administration has released a webpage on mental health and the economic crisis. The
Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration has recently published a site called
"A Guide to Getting Through Tough Economic Times". While I am not a psychologist, I believe it was Albert Einstein who once said: “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” Based on how the Treasury and Fed have been handling the current economic crisis, perhaps they should read SAMHSA's nifty guide. The same Keynesian policies the federal government is trying now, have been tried countless times before to no avail (read up on Japan's "Lost Decade" if you don't believe me). The bottom line: the government cannot create wealth by increasing federal spending and attempting to internally "buy back" its own debt.
